What Is A Midwife?

Midwifery is a health care profession which provides personalized care to the childbearing woman during pregnancy, labor and birth, and during the postpartum period.

A midwife also helps care for the newborn and assists the mother with breastfeeding.

Midwife care differs from medical care, although they can certainly overlap.  A midwife usually spends about 1 or 1.5 hour with a client during an appointment. This is because as a midwife gets to know and understand your needs and desires, they can better serve you.

Finding a midwife is finding a friend.

Midwives in Montana are licensed by the State of Montana.
