I’m Angie and I’m a certified birth doula through DONA International and a student midwife. I completed my Neonatal Resuscitation provider certificate in June 2011 and began my coursework and clinical studies in southern California in September 2011. I’ve been working in the birth world since February 2010 and completed many health-related classes while working toward a Kinesiology degree at California State University, San Bernardino. I was certified as an Emergency Medical Technician in 2001.
My belief is that most of the time, when well-prepared and well-supported, birth is a completely normal process which unfolds in a healthy manner. There is usually no need for intervention but when it is necessary, the mother and baby should have a highly qualified care provider to make sure safety is maintained. I hope to serve mothers and families who feel the same way.
Currently I am in California but will be moving to Helena by Fall 2012. I am a wife and mother of 2 young children, and to date have attended approximately 25 births as a doula, a birth assistant and/or student midwife.
